What Retail Pharmacy contributes to Cardinal Health

Pharmacy Operations is responsible for the safe, efficient and effective coordination of Cardinal Health's pharmacy operations that service acute care hospitals, hospital retail customers, ambulatory care and alternate site facilities, oncology and cardiology practices as well as retail customers.

Retail Pharmacy is responsible for ensuring the correct and safe dispensing of prescription medications to the general public, in accordance with legal, ethical and professional guidelines; may also consult with and advise patients and physicians regarding prescribed and over-the-counter medications.

Work Schedule

8:30 AM PT to 5:00 PM PT, Monday to Friday

Onsite in Carlsbad, CA

Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician I will support the preparation and fulfillment of prescription orders in a mail-order pharmacy environment. This role involves setting up and filling orders, pulling products, verifying prescription details, printing and applying labels, and assisting with inventory management.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and fill prescription orders accurately, including pulling products and applying labels.

  • Verify prescription details for accuracy before fulfillment.

  • Set up printed orders for processing and ensure timely completion.

  • Restock inventory and receive deliveries throughout the day.

  • Maintain compliance with pharmacy standards and procedures to prevent errors.

  • Utilize pharmacy software (EV) and tablets for order processing; basic use of Outlook and Teams as needed.

  • Monitor and record temperatures as part of compliance requirements.

  • Assist with additional tasks such as cleaning, boxing, and supporting team workflow.

  • Collaborate with team members and pharmacists to ensure smooth operations.

  • Adhere to professional standards and contribute to a positive, inclusive team environment.

Qualifications

  • 0-1 years of Pharmacy Technician experience, preferred.

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent, or equivalent work experience, preferred.

  • Active Pharmacy Technician license in the state of California.

  • Familiarity with computers and ability to learn new software quickly.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately.

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderate weight as needed.

  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills; willingness to assist others.

  • Adaptability to process changes and new technology.

  • Professional, reliable, and committed to maintaining high standards of accuracy.

  • Experience in mail-order pharmacy or production/warehouse environments is a plus.

Anticipated hourly range: $17.80 per hour - $22.77 per hour
