Job Description

Psomagen, Inc. (Brooklyn, NY) is looking for Bioinformatics Scientist.
Job Duty:
Operate a computer-based laboratory data management application and system, such as LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System), meticulously recording experimental data and the execution of laboratory tests; (20% of time)
Perform quality control and maintenance of the laboratory information management system and software to meet specific scientific project needs; Be involved in improvement of the laboratory information management system for processing and analyzing genomic information, or other biological information; (20% of time)
Analyze large molecular datasets, such as genomic sequence data for clinical or academic research purposes, using laboratory information management system and software; (20% of time)
Conduct research in biotechnology and genomics, using bioinformatics theory or method, creating novel computational approaches and analytical tools as required by research goals; Consult with the researchers at the company laboratories to analyze problems that arose during the research, recommending biotechnology-based solutions or strategies. (20% of time)
Perform molecular biology experiments such as the DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis; The DNA extraction is a fundamental laboratory procedure that involves the isolation and separation of DNA molecules from cells and other contaminants. The gel electrophoresis is a laboratory method used to separate mixtures of DNA, RNA, or proteins according to molecular size. (10% of time)
Interacting with the customers in hospitals and universities to provide information in response to inquiries, concerns, and requests about bioinformatics services and analysis results; Communicate research results through conference presentations, scientific publications, or project reports. (10% of time)
Job Requirement
Bachelors degree in Biology or Pharmaceutical Science and
27 months of post-graduate experience in bioinformatics scientist or laboratory technician
Compensation
Salary: $75,000.00 per year, Health Insurance, 401(K)
